2.1259 HAMILTON HF-36 DAY-DATE AUTOMATIC, SWISS 1970s

$64.61 $120.82
A sharp and very distinctive 1970s Hamilton with one of those dials that keeps surprising the eye with a contrast two-tone dial layout. At first glance the watch dial looks almost black, and the strap seems nearly black as well. But under a different angle, the true tone appears: a deep dark chocolate/sepia tone that gives the whole watch an unexpectedly rich and warm character. This example is also notable for its original factory brushing and polishing without restoration, which is increasingly uncommon considering its age. About the Hamilton HF-36 The HF-36 name stands for High Frequency 36,000 vibrations per hour, referring to the fast-beat movement inside. This higher frequency gives the central seconds hand a notably smoother sweep than standard 18,000 or 21,600 bph watches, and in the late 1960s-70s it was considered a genuinely advanced technical feature. The model also belongs to an interesting moment in Hamilton history. By this period, Hamilton had moved away from its traditional American production roots and was increasingly tied to Swiss manufacturing, combining the strong Hamilton name with modern Swiss movements and contemporary European case design. Watches like this HF-36 show that transition perfectly: American brand heritage, but fully expressed through the bold language of 1970s Swiss watchmaking.
